  • a runny nose or sneezing
  • coughing, wheezing or breathlessness
  • itchy skin or a raised rash (hives / urticaria)
  • nausea or vomiting
  • swollen eyes, lips, mouth or throat
What is a severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis?

Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening allergic reaction that happens very quickly, usually within minutes of coming into contact with something you’re allergic to, such as food, medicine or an insect sting. Call 911 immediately if you think that you or someone else is having an anaphylactic reaction.

What are the symptoms of a severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis?
  • Lips, mouth, throat or tongue suddenly become swollen
  • Breathing very fast or struggling to breathe (you may become very wheezy or feel like you’re choking or gasping for air)
  • Throat feels tight or you’re struggling to swallow
  • Skin, tongue or lips turn blue, grey or pale (if you have black or brown skin, this may be easier to see on the palms of your hands or soles of your feet)
  • Suddenly become very confused, drowsy or dizzy
  • Faints and cannot be woken up
  • If a child is limp, floppy or not responding like they normally do
  • There may also be a rash which is swollen, raised or itchy
What medications do you offer for Allergies and Allergic Reactions?

Bilastine Blexten

Bilastine belongs to the class of medications called antihistamines. It is used to treat symptoms of seasonal allergies or hayfever; including sneezing, itchy and runny nose; itchy, red and watery eyes; and skin rashes, hives, urticaria and irritations. Bilastine is also used to relieve symptoms accsociated with long-term allergic skin conditions such as chronic hives and itching.
How does Bilastine (Blexten) work?
Bilastine (Blexten) ia an antihistamine. It works by blocking the actions of histamine (a natural chemical found in the body). Histamine is responsible for many of the symptoms of an allergic reaction. The effects of bilastine may be noticed as quickly as one hour after taking the medication and last approximately 24 hours.
What is my dose of Bilastine (Blexten)?

The usual dose that our Doctors recommend is 20mg tablets taken once daily with water on an empty stomach one hour before eating or two hours after eating for the best effect. Food and fruit juice can reduce how well the medication works.
Medication dose can be affected by a combination of factors, if our QuickDoc team has prescribed you a different dose to the ones listed here, make sure you take it exactly as prescribed. What are the side effects of Bilastine (Blexten)?

Lots of medications can cause side effects, which is an unwanted response to a medication when taken as a normal dose. Not all people experience side effects. The following side effects have been reported by at least 1% of people when using Bilastine (Blexten).

• Headache
• Drowsiness

Check with your Doctor (and discontinue medication) as soon as possible if any of the following less common side effects occur:

• Anxiety
• Increased appetite/weight gain
• Gastrointestinal discomfort
• Insomnia
• Nausea
• Dizziness
• Vertigo
• Palpitations

SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SIDE EFFECTS OCCUR AND DISCONTINUE TAKING THE MEDICATION

• Chest pains, irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath
• Shortness of breath associated with a blue colouring of the lips and peripheries (hands and feet)
• Severe Allergic reaction or anaphylaxis (swelling, facial swelling, swelling of lips, tongue, throat, shortness of breath, wheeze, rash, itching)
• Severe skin reaction (blistering, skin peeling, an extensive rash or rash accompanied by fever or pain)

• Dry mouth
• Headache

• Akathisia (restlessness)
• Dizziness
• Drowsiness
• Gastrointestinal discomfort
• Nausea
• Insomnia
• Vomiting
• Palpitations

• Liver Disorders

Olopatadine eye drops

Olopatadine eye drops belongs to the class of medications called antihistamines. It is used to treat symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis (an allergic reaction which affects the eyes), such as itchy and red eyes.

How do Olopatadine eye drops work?
Olopatadine eye drops is an antihistamine. It works by blocking the actions of histamine (a natural chemical found in the body). Histamine is responsible for many of the symptoms of an allergic reaction. The effects of Olopatadine eye drops and reduction of itching may be noticed as soon as 30 minutes after administration.
What is my dose of Olopatadine eye drops?
The usual dose that our Doctors recommend of Olopatadine 0.2% is one drop in each affected eye once daily. Medication dose can be affected by a combination of factors, if our QuickDoc team has prescribed you a different dose to the ones listed here, make sure you take it exactly as prescribed. Ensure you store Olopatadine eye drops in its original packaging in a cool, dry place (such as refrigerator) and keep out of reach of children. Olopatadine eye drops should be disposed of after four weeks of being opened.

• Dry eyes

• Altered taste
• Headache

• Blurred vision or vision disorders
• Sensitivity to light
• Eye pain
• Discharge from the eye
